In-state tuition and fees rose 8.3 percent for 2018-19 at Frank Phillips College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $4,118 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $316 more than the $3,802 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 6.6 percent more than residents this year, or $4,388. Their price tag grew 8.6 percent from $4,042 in 2017-18.

About 88 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 8 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 152 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million and 38 students took out student loans totaling more than $147,073.

Including all undergraduates (1,484), 697 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.6 million, and 136 students took out $580,794 in federal student loans.
