CLARENDON COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Resolution Postponing Election

Clarendon Community College issued the following announcement.

Postponement of May 2, 2020 Election

WHEREAS, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation on March 18, 2020 suspending Texas Election Code; and

WHEREAS, The Governor's proclamation allows political subdivisions to postpone an election from the uniform election date of May 2, 2020 to the other uniform election date of November 3,2020;and

WHEREAS, The Clarendon College Board of Regents is defined as a political subdivision under Texas Election Code; and

WHEREAS, The Clarendon College Board of Regents would continue to recognize the candidates that have previously filed as valid candidates; and

WHEREAS, The filing period for the election will not be re-opened for the November 3, 2020 election; and

WHEREAS, The major relevant dates for the uniform election date of November 3, 2020 are;

   October 5, 2020 -Voter Registration Deadline

   October 23, 2020 -Deadline to submit an Absentee Ballot By Mail (ABBM) Deadline

   October 19, 2020-October 30, 2020- are the dates for early voting.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Clarendon College Board of Regents has authorized the postponement of the May 2, 2020 Regents election to November 3, 2020.
