There were 786 students enrolled in Spearman ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.2% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 66% of the Spearman ISD total enrollment.

Spearman ISD roughly covers schools within Hansford County with its main office in Spearman.

Among the three schools in Spearman ISD, Gus Birdwell Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 372 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
