There were 38 African American students enrolled in Childress ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 19.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Childress ISD schools welcomed 1,014 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 3.7% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Childress ISD roughly covers schools within Childress County and has a main office in Childress.

Among the three schools in Childress ISD schools, Childress Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 13 students.
