Sherman County County Schools: Which ethnicity was most represented in 2021-22 school year?

Of the many ethnicities represented in Sherman County County schools, Hispanic was the most prevalent ethnicity among Sherman County County students in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 689 students attending Sherman County County schools, 59.8% were Hispanic. White students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 37.3% of Sherman County County students.

In the previous school year, Hispanic students still were the most common group in Sherman County County, representing 60.1% of the student body.

Stratford Junior High School had the most even distribution of races among the county schools, including 59.1% Hispanic students, 36.3% white students, 4.1% Multi-racial students, and 0.6% Black students.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county increased 1.3% when compared to the previous year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
