Collingsworth County County: White students were most represented ethnicity in 2021-22 school year

Of the many ethnicities represented in Collingsworth County County schools, the most prevalent ethnic group among students enrolled in Collingsworth County County schools in 2021-22 school year were white, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 543 students attending Collingsworth County County schools, 49% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 45.7% of Collingsworth County County students.

In the previous school year, Hispanic students were the most common group in Collingsworth County County, representing 46.5% of the student body.

Wellington Junior High School, Wellington High School and Wellington Elementary School had the most diverse student body in Collingsworth County County, including white, American Indian, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and Multi-racial.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county increased 0.2% when compared to the previous year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
