Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) addressed the House floor in support of a resolution to hold Vice President Kamala Harris accountable for her role in what he described as the worst border crisis in American history. The resolution, introduced by Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote of 220 to 196.
“As Border Czar, Vice President Harris has overseen the most catastrophic border crisis in our nation’s history,” said Congressman Moran. “As we all know, the failed policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have turned every state in the United States into a border state and led to a record level of illegal immigration, including from individuals on the terrorist watch list. We cannot stand by and allow this to happen. These failed policies are a direct assault on the sovereignty, security, and strength of the United States.”
In his remarks, Congressman Moran emphasized that under Harris' oversight as Border Czar, President Joe Biden issued more than 70 executive orders and policy changes contributing to what he termed an unprecedented border crisis. He criticized Harris for visiting the Southern Border only once since assuming her role.
“Illegal immigrants have had free run to abuse our system. Drugs like fentanyl have poured into our communities across our entire country. Individuals with ties to terrorism and known adversaries of our great Republic have been turned loose inside the United States,” Moran stated.
Since taking office, there have been over 9.9 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide and more than 8.1 million at the Southern Border under the Biden-Harris Administration, according to Moran's data.
Congressman Moran has consistently opposed what he describes as failed border policies by introducing House Resolution 957 earlier this year. This resolution condemned national security and public safety issues at the border and called for an end to open border policies. It passed with bipartisan support in January.
