There were 187 students enrolled in Lefors ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 57.2% of them were boys, and 42.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 77.5% of the Lefors ISD total enrollment.

Lefors ISD roughly covers schools within Gray County with its main office in Lefors.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
