Friona ISD Education: 1,063 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,063 students enrolled in Friona ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.6% of them were boys, and 45.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 89.5% of the Friona ISD total enrollment.

Friona ISD roughly covers schools within Parmer County with its main office in Friona.

Among the four schools in Friona ISD, Friona Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 312 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
