There were 360 students enrolled in Shamrock ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 56.9% of them were boys, and 43.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 53.9% of the Shamrock ISD total enrollment.

Shamrock ISD roughly covers schools within Wheeler County with its main office in Shamrock.

Among the three schools in Shamrock ISD, Shamrock Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 176 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
