There were 73 white students enrolled in Hartley ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Hartley ISD schools welcomed 230 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 31.7% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the district.

Hartley ISD roughly covers schools within Hartley County and has a main office in Hartley.

Hartley School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 73 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
