Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX-01) released a statement on the anniversary of September 11th, reflecting on the victims and heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice 23 years ago. His video remarks and full transcript are available.
“Today, we pause to remember a tragic day that changed our nation forever. Twenty-three years ago, on September 11th, 2001, our world was shaken by an unimaginable tragedy. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost in New York City, Washington D.C., and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Each life taken was a profound loss, and as we remember them today, we also honor their enduring legacy and selfless sacrifice.
“On the fateful morning of September 11th, we witnessed not only the depths of human suffering but also the heights of courage and selflessness.
“We remember the first responders who rushed into danger, driven by a deep commitment to help others. We remember the passengers of Flight 93 who in their final moments chose to act bravely to save others. Their actions embody the strength of the human spirit, reminding us that even in our darkest hour, there is hope and there is light.
“Our reflections today are also an opportunity to draw strength from the unity and resilience we have shown in the years since 9/11. In the face of adversity, we came together as one nation, standing side by side to support and lift up one another. This unity is a testament to the enduring spirit of our country and the values that are so closely held.
“We must also acknowledge the sacrifices of those who answered the call to service after that terrible day. Their courage and dedication remind us of our responsibility to protect and cherish the freedoms we enjoy. We owe them a deep debt of gratitude that cannot be measured in mere words.
“To the families who lost loved ones on 9/11, we offer our heartfelt sympathy and gratitude. Your strength and grace in the face of such profound loss are a powerful reminder of the love and resilience that define us as a nation.
“As we reflect today, let us renew our commitment to never forget the lessons of 9/11. Let us honor the memory of those we lost by living lives of compassion, courage and unity. May we continue to support one another and work toward a world where peace, prosperity, and stability prevail. May we remember the souls, the fallen, their families. And may we resolve to honor their courage and sacrifice.
“May God bless each one of you. May God bless those who suffered the tragedy most on 9/11. And may God Bless the United States of America.”
