How many Hispanic students were enrolled in Briscoe County schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 75 Hispanic students enrolled in Briscoe County school in the 2021-22 school year, 1.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Briscoe County welcomed 187 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic comprised 40.1% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the county.

Silverton School was the only school in the county which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming 187 in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

“The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students…dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools…gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
