Congressman Nathaniel Moran of Texas has cast his vote in favor of a resolution that aims to reverse energy regulations introduced during the Biden administration. The regulation in question, known as the Natural Gas Tax, was part of a broader set of rules intended to curb emissions but faced criticism for increasing energy costs and impacting domestic production.

Moran expressed that the vote is indicative of House Republicans' dedication to addressing challenges posed by previous policies. "This vote sends a clear message to the American people that House Republicans are committed to solving the real issues families faced under the Biden Administration," he stated. He further noted that the resolution's passage signifies a commitment to providing reliable and affordable energy.

The regulation, officially referred to as the Biden Waste Emissions Charge (WEC) rule, was finalized in 2024 under the Inflation Reduction Act. It aimed at imposing financial penalties on energy producers and expanding natural gas taxes. Critics argue it places significant burdens on operators within the energy supply chain.

Congressman August Pfluger spearheaded H.J. Res. 35, which seeks to overturn these measures. The resolution is positioned as a means to prevent increased reliance on foreign energy sources while maintaining energy reliability and affordability.
