Washington, D.C. – Congressman Nathaniel Moran has reintroduced the No Dollars to Uyghur Forced Labor Act. This legislation aims to prohibit U.S. contracts with companies linked to forced labor in China's Xinjiang region. The bill had previously passed the House but did not reach a Senate vote.
“Slavery in any form is morally repugnant, and America must not be complicit in the Chinese Communist Party’s genocide and oppression,” stated Congressman Moran. He highlighted the severe human rights abuses occurring in Xinjiang, emphasizing that "the United States cannot turn a blind eye."
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been accused of oppressing Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities, subjecting them to forced labor in what are described as “reeducation centers.” Products such as textiles, bricks, cotton, and polysilicon are reportedly produced under these conditions and sold worldwide.
Moran's proposed legislation would prevent U.S. Department of State funds from being used for global projects that involve companies importing goods from this region.
