He played college football at Texas Tech, where he earned unanimous All-American honors and set defensive records. Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1996, Thomas played 12 seasons with the team before finishing his career with the Dallas Cowboys. He earned seven Pro Bowl selections and was named Dolphins Team MVP twice. Known for his consistency and leadership, Thomas helped lead Miami’s defense to top rankings in multiple seasons. He ranks second in Dolphins history for most games played by a defensive player. After retirement, Thomas was inducted into several halls of fame, including the College Football Hall of Fame and the Miami Dolphins Honor Roll. His connection to Pampa remains strong, with the local high school stadium named in his honor, recognizing his contributions both on and off the field.
