Washington, D.C. - Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) expressed his support for the protection of life as he celebrated the passage of two important bills, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and the Supporting Pregnant Women and Families Act. These bills aim to provide necessary resources and support for pregnant women and their families.

"As a Christian and father of four, protecting the life of every individual is of the utmost importance to me and I am proud to stand for the sanctity of life," Congressman Moran stated. "We have a responsibility to defend the lives of the unborn and stand up against the Democrats’ pro-abortion agenda that is actively working to expand abortion access, resources, and funding."

Congressman Moran has been recognized for his consistent pro-life stance and was recently awarded an A+ score from SBA Pro-Life America for his efforts during his first term in Congress. He has been a vocal advocate for the protection of life, as demonstrated by his support for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in 2023.

The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, introduced by Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02), is aimed at ensuring that pregnant students in colleges and universities are aware of their rights and resources. It requires educational institutions to inform pregnant women on campus about their protections and accommodations available to them. This includes modified class schedules, excused absences, and more. The act also mandates universities to disseminate this information through various channels such as emails, student handbooks, orientation programs, and student health or counseling centers.

The Supporting Pregnant Women and Families Act, introduced by Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, seeks to prevent the Department of Health and Human Services from prohibiting states from issuing Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF) funds to Pregnancy Resource Centers. These centers play a crucial role in providing essential support and resources to mothers. The act aims to counter a proposed rule from HHS in 2023 that could potentially target these vital care centers. In 2019 alone, these pregnancy centers supported 2 million people, including pregnant women, parents, couples, and families.

The Biden Administration has faced criticism for attempting to divert TANF funds away from Pregnancy Resource Centers and towards programs aligned with Planned Parenthood's business model. The Supporting Pregnant Women and Families Act aims to put an end to this.

The SBA Pro-Life America Scoreboard, which considers votes and actions taken by legislators, awarded Congressman Moran an A+ score for his pro-life stance. The organization's mission is to end abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for life-saving laws.

Congressman Moran's unwavering commitment to the protection of life is evident in his support for these bills and his consistent pro-life stance. With the passage of the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and the Supporting Pregnant Women and Families Act, steps have been taken to ensure that pregnant women receive the support and resources they need. These acts demonstrate the ongoing efforts to uphold the sanctity of life and protect the rights of the unborn.
