Laredo Community College issued the following announcement.
In keeping with its constant efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Laredo College will offer free COVID-19 testing for all Laredo College students and employees beginning on Thursday, Nov. 19.
The tests administered will be the rapid PCR tests. Results can be ready in as few as 15 minutes. This free service is possible through our innovative partnership with Gateway Community Health Center and supported in part by federal funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
“Since the onset of the pandemic, Laredo College has been proactive in enforcing strict health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our college community,” Laredo College President Dr. Ricardo J. Solis said. “Due to the upcoming holidays, we are anticipating a spike of cases not only at the local level but around the nation as well. The free testing services that we will be offering through our partners at Gateway Community Health Center will help with the mitigation efforts. We continue to encourage everyone in our college community to follow all the health and safety guidelines set forth by our local, state and federal health authorities.”
Students or employees who are interested must have an active Palomino ID and a referral from the Laredo College Health and Safety Operations Center (HSOC). The testing will be conducted at the Gateway Community Health Center clinic at the Laredo College South Campus from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments for the testing will be scheduled through HSOC staff once a referral is granted.
For more information about testing or referrals, students and employees can contact the Health and Safety Operations Center at hsoc@laredo.edu or (956) 764-5984. Hours of operation are from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m
