Congressman Moran delivered the keynote address at LeTourneau University’s 2024 Commencement this weekend, where he imparted valuable advice to the graduating class. “The education, the support, and the guidance that you have received here at LeTourneau University has been second to none. I can assure you that you are ready to face what this world has for you and what comes next,” Congressman Moran said during his remarks.

“The same values that got you here, the same values that LeTourneau University instilled in you, do not change when you leave here. You still need to show up on time, be prepared, work hard, and treat people right, that is still the winning formula for your vocation,” Congressman Moran continued. “It was the secret to success when you were in kindergarten and I can tell you from experience, it works in the real world. What you do is important, yes, but how and why you go about that business is even more important.

“Be meek and humble, but at the same time be strong and courageous. Make excellence a part of every decision and see the world and your life with an eternal perspective. Then, internalize that perspective, while you externalize it in the workplace and everything that you do. That Christian world view should be pervasive across every decision that you are going to make. I am certain that you can do this, graduates. You are yellow jackets, and your sting is powerful,” Congressman Moran concluded. “There is greatness in each one of you. Why? Because a great Creator made you. Remember that.”

LeTourneau University, known as The Christian Polytechnic University, was founded in 1946 by inventor and businessman R.G. LeTourneau and his wife, Evelyn. The institution aims to nurture Christian virtue, develop competency and ingenuity in professional fields, integrate faith and work, and serve the community. The university is currently led by its seventh president, Dr. Steven D. Mason.
